Pressing ESC to pause the game and waiting a few seconds resolves this as it lets the game finish all background tasks that are causing this behavior. Saving the game without mods installed will remove any extra data that is not needed anymore.

WebbTake all your mods and move them to a different folder outside of sims. Delete the empty Mod folder that’s in Sims 4 folder. Start the game, exit the game. Go back to your Sims 4 folder and it should have generated a NEW mod folder. Place all your mods/cc into the new mod folder.
